2024 Manitoba Day Awards and Event

**Winner: “Manitoba Indigenous Tuberculosis History Project” website, Missing Patients Research Guide, and 5 Video Modules in the Resources and Education Materials category. Presented by the Association for Manitoba Archives on June 4th 2024.

Honourable Mention: Story Seeds: Cultivating Wellness and Depth through Indigenous Crop and Plant Traditions in the Exhibitions category. Presented by the Association for Manitoba Archives on June 4th 2024.

 

MISSING PATIENTS RESEARCh, video modules

Five-part video series produced by the Manitoba Indigenous Tuberculosis History Project to support those researching loved ones who entered TB sanatoriums and hospitals from the 1930’s to the 1960’s and never returned home.

 

Throwback to the 2000’s, video heritage project

190 Indigenous culture and language recordings were prepared for digitization and 37 clients and/or organizations were identified for future partnerships by processing 380 tapes, or 309 hours (18, 520 mins) of content from 2000 - 2006.

Story Seeds: Cultivating Wellness and Depth through Indigenous Plant Traditions

Public exhibit by artist-curator Vanda Fleury exploring the better-known crops and plants domesticated, developed, and harvested by Indigenous people of the Americas. Weaving together educational resources, photos, historical records, and other sources, it celebrates the food systems that grow cultural narratives, family and community as well as shared connections to the land through agriculture, nutrition, and wellness.
